i feel like some of the people who are responding with “but if you are white you should talk to cops, to distract them from harassing POC/the homeless/etc.” are kind of missing the point, and skipping over “treat every cop as if they are trying to get information out of you.”
Yes, if you are safe to, go ahead and distract cops from harassing people. But when cops want to talk to you, they want something out of you. This is a very common tactic, especially with protests. And especially if you are white.
They will talk to you. They will be nice. They will talk about things that seem unrelated. They will try and be personable. And you may be thinking, “well, I don’t like cops, so I won’t be tricked.”
But as shown by this story someone shared, talking to cops at all is a danger to you and your comrades. They will look for any evidence they can use. They will try and get you to talk, whether through being kind or through you taunting them. Every time I see somebody saying how they are going to talk to the cops to distract them, I think about somebody taunting the cops and accidentally letting something slip because they ran their mouth, thinking they were immune to their tactics.
The best way to not let information get into the hands of the cops is to never fucking talk to the cops. Ice them out. Make it clear they aren’t getting A SINGLE THING from you. Use your privilege to protect others, sure, but while cops are very often not good at their jobs, they do spend a whole lot of time learning how to get people to rat out their comrades and destroy movements. Treat every cop like a loaded gun and an interrogator, because they are. Don’t talk to the cops.

The whole point of writing fascist characters as human beings is that real fascists are also human beings. If you think of fascists as somehow less than human you are falling into the trap of letting their mentality frame your worldview, thus legitimizing their course of action!
When you start looking at fascists as subhuman the debate becomes ‘which group is actually subhuman and which is being unfairly maligned?’ And personally I’m not fucking comfortable with that question being on the table ever.

one thing that’s also important to remember about committed white supremacists is it isn’t just that they think the white race is superior. you certainly see that in arguments about western culture and the way white supremacists talk about black people in particular, but the thing that ultimately galvanizes white supremacists to act is the idea that the white race is in decline. that decline comes from miscegenation, from the proliferation of “bad genes,” and from cultural and political decay (i.e. decadence and degeneracy.) all of these factors, according to this ideology, make the white race weak, dependent, and docile enough that (((THE JEWS))) can solidify their domination of the entire world and breed the white race that opposes them out of existence
white supremacy isn’t just a fact, it’s an aspiration and a thing that has to be maintained in the face of competition. that’s why eugenics and the subjugation of women are so important to nazis. they want to purge their society of impurities and undesirables in order to create the Best White Race Possible. if you point out that they’re not there yet, that doesn’t contradict their ideology at all. if anything, once they’re done laughing in your face, it’ll only motivate them further
